UN in your language

2008

CINE-ONU had started to take shape and the format of screening a film followed by a discussion with either the director or an expert in the subject of the film was very popular.

Indeed on the one occasion we screened only the film, since we were unable to get a suitable speaker, we had a few comments from the audience about missing the debate afterwards.

In 2008, we screened some wonderful, timely and informative films such as “War Child”, “The Peacekeepers” and “Why Kofi Annan is not a Woman”.

The days where we sat scattered around the room, sometimes on tables as well as chairs, and watched films projected on a white wall were gone.
Now we sat on plush armchairs in the Polak Room with seriously impressive facilities such as microphones and platforms for speakers. We had become professionals and the success of the following years bears this out.
